How Does My Car’s Radiator Work?
Engines run hot, as you might imagine. Their entire source of power comes from combustion, which outputs an incredible amount of heat. The radiator is meant to mitigate that. Positioned directly next to the engine, radiators work by taking the excess heat from the area and passing the hot coolant through its metal fins. The radiator cools the coolant, allowing it to cool the engine more efficiently. This cycle can be easily disrupted if the radiator becomes damaged and is no longer able to keep up with cooling needs of the engine. If you have ever seen a car pulled over on the side of the road with smoke billowing out from the hood, this was almost certainly caused by a broken radiator. If your vehicle is running hot, contact us right away. It’s dangerous to drive an overheating vehicle and we can address the issue quickly and for a fair price.
